After studying cinema at the universities of Lyon-II and Paris-III, Benjamin Esdraffo joined the review La Lettre du cinéma, before publishing texts for Trafic, Les Cahiers du cinéma and Vertigo. At the same time, he became assistant director for Serge Bozon and Axelle Ropert, also making regular cameos in their movies.
In 2001, he directed the medium-length film Clarisse's Neck (Locarno Film Festival, 2003), and in 2005 he became pianist for Barbara Carlotti, composing the music of "Vous dansiez" and "L'Atmosphère".
He started in film music in 2006 by co-writing (with Mehdi Zannad) the songs for Serge Bozon's feature film La France, but made his first real soundtrack in 2013 for Axelle Ropert's Miss and the Doctors. While continuing his collaboration with Axelle Ropert (The Apple of my Eyes, Little Solange) and Serge Bozon (Mrs. Hyde, Don Juan), Benjamin Esdraffo also worked with Pierre Léon (The Idiot), Whit Stillman (Love and Friendship), Adolfo Arrietta (Sleeping Beauty), Mikael Buch (Simon and Theodore), Nicolas Pariser (Alice and the Mayor, The Green Perfume), Vladimir Léon (My Dear Spies), Anne Le Ny (The Spiral, Out of Control), Caroline Vignal (It's Raining Men), Emmanuel Mouret (Three Friends).
Benjamin Esdraffo is also part of the group Dorian Pimpernel (since 2012).
